“Gunpowder room 4” – Nis Fortress
Directorate for the construction of the city of Niš
The Gunpowder room is one of four of this type in the complex of Niš Fortress. The Gunpowder room was built in a year of 1723 and as such it is protected by the Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments. The building was in very bad condition, so in cooperation with the representatives of the Institute for Protection of Monuments and the Directorate for construction of the city of Niš, we have restored the building in its entirety. We rebuilt the parts of the building that posed the danger for its security, using bricks that were matching dimensions with the existing ones, changed the roof cover modeled on the existing roof cover that was covered with various overgrown vegetation, the fixed supporting structure, flooring was made from bricks, the loopholes were glazed and rebuilt, which were previously collapsed and we made electrical installations and lightning, since it will change its purpose into a showroom.
